3DHeartLab offers a suite of congenital heart surgery and morphology training programs for fellows, early‑career surgeons, and physicians. Choose from intensive bootcamps, longitudinal curricula, and local or international offerings to fit your team’s learning needs.
Which program is right for you?

Surgical Fellows & Early-career Surgeons
Practice congenital heart surgery step-by-step in Hands-On Surgical Training (HOST) .
Three-day bootcamp and monthly courses available.

Physicians &
Cardiac Specialists
Deepen your understanding of cardiac anatomy in Morphology Courses.

Senior Surgeons &
Educators
Combine HOST, Morphology and HOST International with our Course Materials to build your curriculum.
HOST Bootcamp
Intensive Hands-On Surgical Training (HOST)
October 16 – 18, 2026 | Toronto, Canada
The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids)
HOST Bootcamp is a three‑day intensive congenital heart surgery course using realistic 3D silicone models and expert faculty instruction. Designed for cardiac surgery fellows and early‑career congenital surgeons who want concentrated hands‑on practice and direct feedback before complex cases.
Key features:
-
Designed for accredited congenital cardiac surgical fellows and early-career congenital cardiac surgeons (years 1-3).
-
Small groups for close instruction and individualized feedback.
-
Available in person at SickKids or online with models shipped to you.
Enrolment is limited to support small -group instruction; early registration is recommended
Monthly HOST Sessions
Monthly HOST Sessions provide a structured 11‑session curriculum that building on the HOST Bootcamp's success.
Each session focuses on a distinct congenital heart defect using 3D models, allowing participants to revisit techniques, prepare for real operating room cases, and integrate simulation into their regular training.
Originally developed for SickKids fellows, these sessions are also available to surgeons globally.
Longitudinal Skills-Building
HOST International
Bring HOST to your centre.
HOST International brings our simulation-based congenital heart surgery training to your hospital or training program.
Options range from shipping model sets for independent local use to multi‑day onsite or courses led by our faculty.

Morphology
Morphology courses at 3DHeartLab focus on deepening your understanding of congenital heart anatomy using both pathologic specimens and 3D printed models. These programs help you visualize complex structures in three dimensions so you can interpret imaging more confidently, plan interventions, and communicate clearly with colleagues, patients, and families.
Annual Morphology Course
The Annual Morphology Course is his multi‑day course combines focused lectures with hands‑on sessions using heart specimens and 3D models. You explore a specific theme in congenital heart disease and strengthen the anatomical knowledge that underpins your clinical and procedural decision‑making.
Designed for physicians and trainees who want a concentrated update in congenital heart morphology, this course typically hosts approximately 40 participants and encourages active discussion around real-world cases and post-operative examples.
Monthly Morphology
Sessions
These 11-session, small‑group seminars provide a longitudinal introduction to congenital heart morphology for residents and fellows in pediatric cardiology, intensive care, cardiac imaging, pediatric pathology and cardiovascular surgery.
Working directly with specimens and 3D models, you connect imaging findings with underlying anatomy to inform everyday clinical care.
